What is Solo Mining?

Solo mining occurs when an individual miner attempts to find the next block on the Bitcoin blockchain independently, without pooling resources with others.

How Does It Work?

Instead of sharing computational power and block rewards with others (as done in a mining pool), a solo miner takes on the network alone. If their hardware successfully hashes a block, they receive the full block reward. However, due to the astronomical difficulty of the current Bitcoin network, the odds of a small miner finding a block solo are incredibly low.

The Educational Perspective

Projects like TugaMiner's educational mini miners often operate in solo mode. Rather than focusing on guaranteed profits, solo mining with these devices serves as a practical, hands-on demonstration of how the blockchain consensus works, functioning much like an educational technology lottery.
